20 YEAR OLD PRODUCER FROM LUDHIANA DROPS HIS FIRST OFFICIAL LO-FI / HIP-HOP EP “Mlkshake”

“Mlkshake” by Kartik is a 5 track mixtape/EP fusing sounds from the far-reaching corners of the musical universe. Kartik seamlessly orders this chaos on crunchy, gritty and swung beats that instantly get the listener screw facing and snapping their necks. The obscure formatting of this EP is aligned with his previous bandcamp tapes and in his own words, “I tried sounds from different records for this EP. I got a lot of inspiration from many places and from my homies to my family, my big brothers PAV4N, Joe & Saqleen supported me to drop this EP.”

Artists like Madlib, Dilla, DOOM and many old R&B groups inspire Kartik’s musical journey and not strangely enough, his laptop too inspires him to make beats! For Kartik, releasing this EP is symbolic of finally saying hello to the world and showcasing who he is. He wants the world to know that he has arrived and that there’s a lot in store from him.

Tracks like “Pinetreesss_.”, “Itkankost.alot.”, “EQT[klip].”, “Nevuhmynd.” are heavily sampled from 80’s and 90’s sounds because as a music producer Kartik feels that the sounds of that era were more ecstatic and clearer. Especially the bass & the synths that used to be way more wavy. For the vocal samples, the beat maker went to his inspiration MF DOOM's interviews.

The title of the EP, “Mlkshake” is an ode to his friend and brother Joe Sekhon, who encouraged Kartik to make this beat tape and call it Mlkshake.

Born in Ludhiana, Kartik Sudhera started creating beats at the age of 17. The young producer is rooted in Hip-Hop like his primary influences such as Madlib, J. Dilla & The Alchemist. Kartik has it's own way with production, the sophisticated ambience of the melody works its way under the flesh of the listener. Kartik started getting recognition for his work in 2019 and since then he has garnered listeners from various demographics even from the big leagues, with the likes of PAV4N from 4NC¥, working under the same label with him in the early 2020s. Emphasising on the DIY ethic the artist also creates his cover-arts, mixes his tracks & publishes them across the globe.
